Bill Swatosch started Swatosch Autohaus in 1964 renting a service bay in ‘Service City’, Botany Road, Alexandria.
Specialising in Mercedes Benz, Bill soon had a staff of three with seven bays rented and parking issues. The rent doubled so it was time to move.

1973 saw Bill move the business to a premises on the corner of O’dea Avenue and South Dowling Street which gave the business the right exposure on one of Sydney’s busiest streets and before long business boomed. The opportunity arose to sell up in 1986 and move the business back to Alexandria to a fully covered site that the business still operates at 18 O’riordan Street.

Peter Swatosch who has managed the business since 1990 when Bill his father retired, still has fond memories growing up with the business.
Spending his holidays and weekends at Swatosch Autohaus were commonplace until he started his mechanical apprenticeship in 1980.
1996 saw Peter gain a used car dealer license which now sees a successful sales business also run out of O’riordan Street selling 50 to 60 cars every year.

Used cars aside Swatosch Autohaus continues to be a very successful independent workshop specialising in Mercedes Benz. At present Peter has six mechanics and a spare parts manager continuing to provide the level of service his clientele are used to. 2004 will see the 40th anniversary of Swatosch Autohaus, which is testimony to the quality and level of service that Swatosch Autohaus has provided to the Sydney marketplace.
